Work While there is Light
We must quickly carry out the tasks assigned us by the one who sent us. The night is coming, and then no one can work.
John 9:4 NLT
In yesterday’s post, we spoke of the fact that death reminds us that we must live. Today, we will talk about living.
As the Christian world proceeds into the second day of Lent, we are reminded to carry with us the death of Christ on the cross. Typical Lent...
Ash Wednesday 2012
A good reputation is more valuable than costly perfume.
And the day you die is better than the day you are born. Better to spend your time at funerals than at parties.
After all, everyone dies—
so the living should take this to heart.
Sorrow is better than laughter, for sadness has a refining influence on us.
Ecclesiastes 7:1-3 NLT
As Christians the world over commemorate Ash Wednesday, I...
I just tried the new bacon shake from Jack in the box. Yeah, some things shouldn’t be made available to the public because they’re HORRIBLE.
This new Chipotle Mayo is awesome! It makes regular mayo look lazy!
Just spoke to the Christian Club @ Sitting Bull Academy. Mr. Walker-their faculty sponsor-is da man! Great group of students!

Fasting (Day 17)
‘Call to me and I will answer you. I’ll tell you marvelous and wondrous things that you could never figure out on your own.’
Jeremiah 33:3 MSG
During this fast, you have probably developed some new habits, good habits. Habits that have helped you develop a healthier spiritual life (and for many of us, dietary habits that would help us to live healthier in the long run).
The...
Fasting (Day 16)
Yet I still dare to hope
when I remember this:
The faithful love of the Lord never ends!
His mercies never cease. Great is his faithfulness;
his mercies begin afresh each morning.
Lamentations 3:21-23 NLT
When you are in the midst of a fast, it is easy to be reminded of all the things that you wish you hadn’t committed to abstain from. Fasting has a way of reminding us that we are...
Fasting (Day 15)
Okay, I admit it. I messed up my fast last Saturday. It was not really intentional, but it happened. I was down the hill with some family and we went to lunch and I couldn’t figure out ANYTHING on the menu to order that would be suitable to my fast, so, I just oredered SOMETHING.
So, what did I do after? I went right back onto my fast, I moved on. See, sometimes, we are going to mess up...
Fasting (Day 14)
You did it! You’ve made it through the first 2 weeks of our 21 day fast!
Are you surprised? Were you beginning to wonder if you could make it this far?
The truth is, at this point in your fast, new habits are beginning to set in. You’re probably not “Jonesing” for whatever you are fasting from as badly now as you were a week ago. It is in the midst of a time like this,...
Completely disassembled/reassembled garbage disposal & drain under sink. No more leaks. Disposal works. I feel like a grown up
Fasting Day 2
One of the great advantages of fasting is the constant reminders. As you fast, you will notice that you habitually try to go back to your routine. The things that you are abstaining from during this fast would subtly creep back into your life, if not for the reminders.
Those simple reminders do two things for us. First, they are teaching us to listen to the quiet voice of God. Whenever lunch...
I am PUMPED about Passage AV tonight! Invite your friends, see ya @ 7:00!
My church is about to do a Daniel fast. Why don’t we ever have a John the Baptist Fast? #locusts&honey

On Being Firstly-Last
So, those who are last now will be first then, and those who are first will be last.
Matthew 20:16 NLT
I go to Disneyland with my fiance a lot. As fun as it can be, there is one thing that I always dread: lines. Waiting in a line for an hour seems ridiculous, especially for a ride that is only a few minutes long. Yet, Disneyland continues to be a place where EVERYONE seems to want to take a...
When to Serve
12 Later, John’s disciples came for his body and buried it. Then they went and told Jesus what had happened.
13 As soon as Jesus heard the news, he left in a boat to a remote area to be alone. But the crowds heard where he was headed and followed on foot from many towns. 14 Jesus saw the huge crowd as he stepped from the boat, and he had compassion on them and healed their sick.

On Self Expectation*
*This post is a VERY rough draft and should be viewed as such. Let me know your thoughts!
I know a lot of people that are really good at expecting a lot from themselves. In fact, I regularly interact with people that confide in me when they don’t live up to their own expectations. This is probably because I am a pastor, it’s part of my job to listen; it’s probably one of the...

12 Year Old Genius →
Wow, I started to watch the video of this kid teaching Calculus and, within about 30 seconds of his teaching was so lost in the complexity of the equation, that I had NO CLUE what was going on. Either he’s really smart, or no one really understands Calculus, lol!

On Teaching
As a pastor, I have the opportunity to regularly teach from the Bible. Honestly, it is probably my favorite part of the “job.” I’m an inquisitive person and so I love the studying and preparation, I love mining out nuggets of truth and wisdom and I love writing/developing the best way to communicate these nuggets in ways that are relevant to the lives of those who will be...

Okay, so I realize that this is an advertising ploy by VW, but hey, the principle is still awesome. How much more could you accomplish in a day if you found a way to make everything you do a little more fun? Check out the videos and be inspired to be a bit more imaginative.
